Clifford Benson, the much-loved pianist who worked with so many flute players, died recently at the age of sixty. This recording of Clifford and Trevor Wye playing the 3rd movement of the Bach E Minor Sonatais published in memory of Clifford and is available by courtesy of his wife Dilys Benson and Trevor Wye. Trevor plays on a wooden Radcliffe System flute d'amour made in the mid 1920's by Rudall Carte, a whole tone lower than a standard flute. The continuo realisation by Clifford Benson which has been much admired over the years was written on the train en route to the recording session in Manchester in the early 1980's.
The recording is free to download.
