BFS website reviews: The small print

This new venture by the BFS, concert reviews on the website, exists to fill a gap in Pan—The Flute Magazine, where we have chosen to concentrate on CD reviews rather than live concerts. Why? Because we don’t have unlimited space in the magazine, and because reviews sometimes can’t be published until five or six months after the concert, by which time the concert is history. A CD, on the other hand, continues to be available, so a CD review is always useful—you can go out and buy the CD at any time. On this website, however, we have unlimited space, and we can publish a concert review immediately.

Similar rules apply for website reviews as for printed reviews:

1. A review is published for the benefit of the reader, not simply to give an artist some publicity.
2. We do not guarantee to publish a review of every item sent to us or every concert to which we are invited.
3. The editorial team will choose the reviewer. Unsolicited reviews will not be accepted.
4. The reviewer may not like the work or the concert. A good review is not guaranteed.

If you would like your concert reviewed, please let the editor know well in advance. We must be invited to review a concert.
